NUMBER & OPERATIONS IN BASE TEN - I can perform operations with multi-digit whole numbers and decimals to hundredths.
5.NBT.B.5 - Use the standard algorithm to multiply up to four-digit numbers (with composing); solve multiplication word problems
MEASUREMENT AND DATA - I can understand concepts of volume and relate volume to multiplication and to addition.
5.MD.C.3 - Identify the total number of unit cubes as the volume of an object
5.MD.C.4 -  Use standard and non-standard units to measure volume
5.MD.C.5 -  Use multiplication and addition to calculate volume of rectangular-based prisms; solve volume word problems

VOCABULARY

calculate: to work out an answer, usually by adding, multiplying etc. (example: Calculate the cost of 10 apples when each apple costs 0.50. Answer: 10 x 0.50 = 5.00)

compare: examine the difference between numbers, to decide if one is greater than, or equal to another number. (often uses the symbols >, <, =)

cubic:
 a number that has been raised to the third power,
 (in volume it refers to 3 dimensions; length, width, height)
